Not long ago, this set of ocean floating thermoelectric power generation device carried out its first sea test in the 1,900-meter deep sea area of ​​​​the South China Sea on board the "Yangyang Dizhi No. 2" ship, successfully completing the verification of thermoelectric power generation technology. .

The total power generation time of this test is more than 4 hours, the maximum power generation power is 16.4 kilowatts, and the effective power generation utilization rate reaches 17.7%. This sea trial not only proved the feasibility of the principle of the self-developed ocean thermoelectric power generation system, but also verified the practicality of the utilization of ocean thermoelectric power generation.

It can be said that the successful completion of sea trials of my country’s first 20kW ocean floating thermoelectric power generation device is the first time that my country has achieved principle verification and engineering operation of ocean thermoelectric power generation under actual sea conditions. It marks that my country's ocean temperature difference energy research is gradually moving from theoretical testing to the industrialization stage, and has effectively promoted the development and utilization of deep-sea energy in my country from land testing to offshore engineering applications. The test results provide directions and ideas for the design and optimization of ocean thermoelectric power generation systems.

Ocean temperature difference energy, tidal energy, wave energy, salinity difference energy, ocean current energy, etc. are all very important marine renewable energy sources. Marine renewable energy in a broader sense also includes wind energy above the ocean, solar energy on the ocean surface, and marine biomass energy.

In recent years, relying on the abundant offshore wind energy resources, our country’s wind power has developed rapidly. For this reason, the use of ocean temperature difference energy to generate electricity is expected to provide large-scale and stable power for coastal areas, reducing the consumption of fossil fuels to a certain extent. The proportion of power generation provides effective support for achieving the "double carbon" goal.

Our country has vast sea areas and excellent marine renewable energy endowments such as ocean temperature difference energy and ocean wind energy. Through the development of ocean temperature difference energy and ocean wind energy, we can meet my country's new power demand in the future.
