Although the 2019 Casaro Design Tour has ended, for designer Zhang Qiang, what he saw, heard, thought and felt during this study tour injected new inspiration into design creation. When talking about Japanese design, the first thing that many people think of is "clean, tidy, small and beautiful". As Zhang Qiang, a designer who went to Japan to study this time, said, Japanese designers pay attention to user experience, from a small cup to a large one. From high-speed trains to airports, we strive to make viewers happy and users comfortable.
Q1: What is your biggest gain from this study tour?
Zhang Qiang: What I gained the most from this study tour is that many Japanese designs are worth learning from in terms of cultural inheritance and closeness to nature. They pay attention to returning to nature, integrating nature and man, and strive to create a space where people and the environment coexist harmoniously.
Q2: What concepts have you always adhered to in design? What does design mean to you?
Zhang Qiang: My design philosophy can be summarized in a few words: "Taste culture, understand life." No matter how rich and varied the style is, culture is still the foundation of the work. The quality of design lies in the sense of proportion and cannot deviate from life. Life is the enlightenment teacher of inspiration. It can always provide guidance on "beauty", and design also makes life better.
Q3: Where does the inspiration for your work come from? How to keep yourself constantly inspired by design?
Zhang Qiang: In fact, my inspiration does not suddenly burst out at a certain moment. It can come from my 1 hour of study every day, my understanding of people, my understanding of life, my interpretation of brands and culture, and only continuous input. Only then can there be a large amount of output. In addition, "study travel" is of great help to inspiration, reading thousands of books and traveling thousands of miles. The design you feel personally is really different from the design you see in books. I suggest you go out and walk more when you have time. The more you accumulate, the more inspiration you will have.
Through the works of designer Zhang Qiang, you will see the original intention of serving life through design. Every time I write, it is both a design and a rethinking of life.

Careful Zhang Qiang discovered that although the whole wood customization gives people a sense of nobility and luxury, if all the furniture is made of wood, not only will the decoration price be high, but it will also easily cause aesthetic fatigue. How to create a grand and simple living space for the owners on the basis of whole wood customization?
Zhang Qiang designs by deleting shapes, lines, and unifying colors. It may be difficult for you to determine which popular styles and elements he uses in his design, but you must have seen it. The romantic, warm, yet concise and practical Nordic style is deeply loved by young people. In this case, Zhang Qiang used marble with rich textures and warm metal to enhance the space style, easily interpreting the beauty of Nordic light luxury, and creating an endless aftertaste space.
BedroomBased on a clean space, the coordination of gray wooden floors and wooden bed boards makes the entire space simple and tidy. Metal soft furnishings are used as the bedside wall, which is very coordinated with the metal chandelier. Green bedding and seats convey a natural and comfortable attitude towards life with a fresh and elegant feel.
Light-colored walls paired with plaid carpets and brown wooden floors create an atmospheric and concise visual space. The pink curtains match the seats perfectly, making the room look sweet and cozy.
